Happy New Year!

I have been busy studying three interesting subjects:

1. Criminal Psychology
2. Carl Jung
3. Internet venues other than websites and blogs.

I did my first Squidoo lens on Clairvoyant Reading.

My parents are finally here. They are visiting during the winter months. Both retired now; my father was an English teacher, and my mother an elementary school teacher. They are fun and funny!

On Meditation

              "Do you meditate?"

    rainbow

It seems"spiritual" people feel guilty or embarrassed when I ask the question; "Do you meditate?" Many have assumptions about what meditation "is" or what it "should" be so they believe that they are not doing it or not doing it right.

You might be meditating while you are working in the yard, walking in the park, or just sitting; without knowing that you ARE meditating.

About doing it right, here is an old story:

The True Sound of Truth

A devoted meditator, after years concentrating on a particular mantra, had attained enough insight to begin teaching. The student's humility was far from perfect, but the teachers at the monastery were not worried.

A few years of successful teaching left the meditator with no thoughts about learning from anyone; but upon hearing about a famous hermit living nearby, the opportunity was too exciting to be passed up.

The hermit lived alone on an island at the middle of a lake, so the meditator hired a man with a boat to row across to the island. The meditator was very respectful of the old hermit. As they shared some tea made with herbs the meditator asked him about his spiritual practice. The old man said he had no spiritual practice, except for a mantra which he repeated all the time to himself. The meditator was pleased: the hermit was using the same mantra he used himself -- but when the hermit spoke the mantra aloud, the meditator was horrified!

"What's wrong?" asked the hermit.

"I don't know what to say. I'm afraid you've wasted your whole life! You are pronouncing the mantra incorrectly!"

"Oh, Dear! That is terrible. How should I say it?"

The meditator gave the correct pronunciation, and the old hermit was very grateful, asking to be left alone so he could get started right away. On the way back across the lake the meditator, now confirmed as an accomplished teacher, was pondering the sad fate of the hermit.

"It's so fortunate that I came along. At least he will have a little time to practice correctly before he dies." Just then, the meditator noticed that the boatman was looking quite shocked.

"Excuse me, please. I hate to bother you, but I've forgotten the correct pronunciation again. Would you please repeat it for me?"
asked the hermit politely, standing respectfully on the water, next to the boat.                      (Resource: dharma-haven.org)

Sacredness is not in the words, the place or in the candles and your clothes. It is within.

The goal of meditation is creating AWARENESS within and without. There is no wrong way to meditate. Just do it!

Mom and David Playing Together Nicely!

           My Waterfall

David had been working on a song which sounded a lot like classical Turkish music. It has the flavors of Spanish, Arabic, and Middle Eastern tones. Now that my parents are here, he gets to play it with my mom. The instrument my mom plays is called classical kemence. My mom is now teaching him some very old Turkish songs. it is fascinating to hear them playing together.

There is another variation of the instrument my mom plays. It is used in Turkish, Black Sea folk songs and dancing. That one is called kemence.
WMy New EFT Method

This idea came to me during aSpiritual Counseling session with a client. Considering how I love practicality and speed, I think it is brilliant! Please feel free to post below article in EFT forums and blogs with my name and website address.

EFT TAPPING with MOVIES

If there is a TV series that includes a character that you identify with, or if you feel strong about a scene in a movie and realize sensations in your body, start tapping. You actually don't need to say anything while you tap because you are already in the moment. Your physical body is reacting and your mind thinks you are actually living it. Remember your mind doesn't know real from fantasy- that's why you start salivating when you think of cutting a lemon. So seize the moment and keep tapping!

If you feel the need to say something while you tap, here are a few options that you can use:

1. I deeply and completely accept myself.

2. Even though I feel ........(whatever you are feeling at that moment)........., I deeply and completely accept myself.

3. Even though I want to.....(whatever you want to do to the other people in the movie who are causing the character you identify with to suffer)....., I deeply and completely accept myself.

If it is a movie really affecting you, you might purposefully use it for healing by stopping it when the emotions are strong and when it takes you back to memories. Your emotions don't have to be only the negative ones. You can also tap for the seemingly positive emotions. Often, these highly emotional "positive"looking events keep you in the past with the constant craving of creating and experiencing the same delicious sensations. So tap for them and let them go as well!
